Jay Bauman – Saddlemaker

If you have an idea you believe in, sometimes you just have to go ahead and try it, even if others doubt you.That's what Jay Bauman did. Jay is an artist and craftsman born into a family of leather workers, who made fine belts and holsters. But, when Jay saw leather, he didn't see belts and holsters; he saw saddles. So, Jay took the trail less ridden and now his saddles are sought by horse owners from across the country. Tennessee Crossroads recently traveled to the community of Muddy Pond to watch Jay at work..

Blues in the Schools

The music we listen to says a lot about who we are and where we cam from. Important things to know, but not necessarily the kind of thing you think about being taught in school. If you'd like a lesson on that, go to the Bayou. Not a place. A Person. Bayou is Shannon Williford's nickname. He and his friend spend a lot of their time in a program called 'Blues in the Schools.' Tennessee Crossroads recently met Bayou at a Nashville school where he and his friends were conducting a music lesson, which includes a dash of history and geography and even a pinch of math and science.
