Blues in the Schools
The music we listen to says a lot about who we are and where we cam from. Important things to know, but not necessarily the kind of thing you think about being taught in school. If you’d like a lesson on that, go to the Bayou. Not a place. A Person. Bayou is Shannon Williford’s nickname. He and his friend spend a lot of their time in a program called ‘Blues in the Schools.’ Tennessee Crossroads recently met Bayou at a Nashville school where he and his friends were conducting a music lesson, which includes a dash of history and geography and even a pinch of math and science.
